Do you want other planetary scientists (outside your field)
and the public to know and care about your work?
That was our call to action as SciArt Exchange proudly teamed with the Lunar and Planetary Institute on a “STEAM Your Science Competition” for attendees at the 49th Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in March 2018.
We challenged conference abstract-submitting scientists to capture the essence and importance of their research in a publicly-engaging way through visual, literary, musical, or video art. Meeting attendees then evaluated the finalists and selected the winners. For both the artists and the voters, the activity emphasized the importance and challenges of communicating science to a broad audience.
